My Busted Halo

Song - Surfin' USA by The Beach Boys

I have been out of the "Blogging Community" loop for awhile as Mr. B and I went to visit our son, Jon in Redondo Beach for 6 days and I have been painting my little heart out trying to prepare for 3 new shows!  I even brought my painting supplies to Southern California so I could fit in an hour or two whenever it was possible.  We had great light and a view of the marina and a partial ocean view.

The weather was perfect and living by the ocean fit me just fine!   We had a good visit with Jon and spent some time walking on the beach.....

Newsflash - Mr. B without his shoes on!
Attending a car show across the street...

Watching the surfers in Manhattan Beach......

Enjoying the tropical flowers that don't grow in Northern California.....

And the beautiful sunsets......

We went to Art Galleries in Torrance and Laguna Beach.  The guys were not too keen on visiting galleries so I was pushing it at two!

We also visited Mission San Juan Capistrano which is beautiful and serene during the week but on Sunday (when we went) there were 4 weddings going on and groups of soccer kids running amuck.

Jon had some great recommendations for yummy dining from around the world!

But mostly we just hung out and enjoyed our time with Jon.  Thanks Jon-E-B for sharing your little corner of the world!

A New Line of Work

Yes it is true.

I am hoping to sell cars!

Well, paintings of cars anyway.

I just finished a painting of a BMW 507 Roadster (circa 1957) that was accepted into the BMW show next month.  Check out the information HERE.

First One in the Water

Song - Surfin' USA by The Beach Boys

For years now, I have really wanted to attempt painting a "Woodie" so I have been wanting to go to Santa Cruz and see "Woodies on the Wharf". So this last Saturday I had it circled in red on my calendar.

But it was not meant to be.....as we ended up having commitments at home.

Mr. B and I were able to head on down the next day to enjoy some time in the ocean air.

The weather was incredible.  It was so clear that you could see across the Monterey Bay!

We spent time with my parents at their cabin and then the four of us headed to the Wharf for dinner.

I'm not a big seafood lover and after seeing this guy in the window, I opted for the prawns.

Fond memories from my youth but now I'd like to keep my teeth!

After dinner we strolled down the wharf and watched people enjoying the Boardwalk.

Warm evening to sail

On Monday morning Mr. B and I had breakfast on the Wharf and watched the surfers near the Lighthouse.

Small swells but they seemed to be having fun!

The closest I got to a "Woodie"

I discovered a mama seagull on top of an outbuilding on the wharf

She seemed to be saying "What are you looking at?"

Then a little head popped up and I realized she was protecting her little brood.

"Hey, what are you looking at?"

.....I mean haven't you ever seen Spiderman playing a guitar before?

"Hey, what are you looking at? oops! I mean....check me out!"
