First Flight

Song - Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra

Do you remember your first flight?

I happened upon this video a couple of days ago and I just had to share it!

This is a heartwarming video of two Dutch grandmothers taking their first flight ever at seventy years of age.

An is very anxious but Ria is a hoot!  She is full of life and laughter.

An prepares for her upcoming flight by participating in a flight simulator and Ria prepares by riding a roller coaster with her granddaughter.

Now do you remember your first flight?  I sure do and it has brought me to some magical places!

  1. My first flight was from Milwaukee to Boston in (can you believe) 1957! to see my brother graduate from Harvard Law School. I was 12 and got airsick and threw up in the aisle. How magical is that?

    3. Ahhh yes....I did leave out my first flight!

My first flight was to Disneyland with Jim when I was 25. We were up and down so quickly that I thought flying was terrific!

But my second flight did me in. We flew to Mexico which was OK but a little too long and then we took a hop flight across the mountains to the coast in a "tin can" of a plane. Even Jim, who was a seasoned flyer and not very religious, was praying!!!

Then we got married and had our babies and flying seemed to be a thing of the past. But Jim and I both wanted to see more of the world so with Jim's encouragement, I went into "Fear of Flying Therapy". My third flight was with my therapist/coach down to LA. Terrified but after two double gin & tonic's it was good.

My fourth flight was to Hawaii and that's when I realized that there was a whole beautiful world to discover!!! Watch out Paris here I come!!!

  2. My first flight was to my dad's hometown. I was just a kid back then and I remember being both excited and scared, but the company of my family made everything a wee bit calming. I don't remember being a nervous flyer after that, seeing as I fly on a frequent basis now. Seems like I enjoy the company of the blue sky and the miles above view. :)
